Arineta Spotlight Duo Imaging Technology

Full Thoracic (Chest) CT with and without Contrast

What is it: A CT scan of the chest to evaluate the lung tissue and other structures in the lung as requested by your doctor.

How is it done: If the test is ordered to be done without iodine-based contrast injection, the test is very quick. There will be no preparation and no injection of contrast. A radiologist will provide an interpretation that will be sent to your doctor. If iodine-based contrast injection is requested, a small intravenous catheter will be placed in an arm vein. A small amount of iodine-based contrast solution is injected in a controlled and carefully timed manner. Prior to taking the x-rays, the technologist will ask you to stop breathing and not move for a few seconds. This is very important so we can get optimal images.

Preparation: No preparation is required if you are not having a iodine-based contrast exam. For those patients having a contrast exam: fasting is not required but do not have a heavy meal in the four hours prior to the exam and hydrate well the day before and day of the exam. Wear loose fitting clothing without metal buttons You may be asked to have a kidney blood test.

Premedication: Yes, if you have a history of allergy-like reactions to iodine-based contrast exams or if you had a rection and cannot remember the details.
