Blood Flow Analysis with AI and Low Dose CT Coronary Angiography
What it is: Blood flow analysis with AI will be done as needed if your CT coronary angiogram shows plaque buildup that could be reducing blood flow and causing symptoms of chest discomfort and shortness of beath and exertional intolerance. Visual analysis alone cannot always predict whether a given amount of plaque buildup is actually reducing blood flow and thereby the cause of symptoms. After analyzing the x-ray images, if we see reduction of artery diameter of 40-90%, we will, if we can get insurance authorization, send your images for further analysis to companies like Heartflow and Cleerly. Resuls will be sent to to your doctor who will discuss with you how the information will guide his or her treatment recommendations.
Does Insurance Cover this Test: Usually, if referred by a doctor for the evaluation of symptoms and we estimate narrowing of your coronary arteries by 40-90%.
Bottom Line: Blood flow analysis makes doing a low dose CT coronary angiogram a more complete evaluation of coronary artery health.
